CEREC v/s Traditional Restorations

The CEREC system, utilizing advanced computer-aided design (CAD) technology and cutting-edge software, enables us to design and fabricate permanent ceramic crowns, onlays, or veneers within minutes. In contrast, with traditional restorations, you usually need to visit the dentist multiple times, which results in a lengthier process.

CEREC Single Visit Crown:

  • Requires removal of a more healthy tooth structure
  • Made using a mold filled with a sticky goop, which you must hold in your mouth until it hardens, the traditional process can be uncomfortable.
  • A temporary restoration, which will last a few weeks, is then attached to your tooth using weak cement.
  • Your crown will be prepared in an off-site dental lab
  • An appointment a few weeks down the road will be scheduled to have your mouth numbed, your temporary pried off and your finished restoration placed.

Traditional Crown Restoration:

  • Requires removal of a more healthy tooth structure
  • Made using a mold filled with a sticky goop, which you must hold in your mouth until it hardens, the traditional process can be uncomfortable.
  • We will attach a temporary restoration to your tooth using weak cement, and it will last a few weeks.
  • An off-site dental lab will prepare your crown.
  • We will schedule an appointment a few weeks down the road to numb your mouth, pry off your temporary restoration, and place your finished restoration.
